Second Congregational Church of Coventry, 1746 Boston Turnpike, will have a roast pork drive through/take-out dinner Saturday, Sept. 17.

The menu: Roast pork, Shady Glen coleslaw, baked beans, apple sauce, and dessert.

The cost is $15 for adults, $8 for children. Place orders at 860-742-1616 or email secondchurch@sbcglobal.net and indicate pick-up time of 5, 5:30, or 6 p.m. The correct amount of cash or check will be required at pick up. Drive down from church parking lot the the Community House across from Highland Park.

East Hartford VFW Post 2083 and Support Our Soldiers-Connecticut invites veterans to a free, end-of-summer cookout on Friday, Sept. 16, at 6 p.m. at the Hillstown Grange, 617 Hills St., East Hartford, rain or shine.

There will be hot dogs, hamburgers, salads, desserts, and refreshments.

This will be a chance for veterans to meet and socialize and enjoy a dinner with fellow comrades who have answered the call to serve their nation, and to ask questions about veterans benefits and problems. Spouses, caregivers, and significant others are also invited.

The Grange is a smoke-free venue and is accessible to the handicapped.

At 7:30, there will be a program on veteran addiction and suicide prevention.

St. Peter’s Episcopal Church turkey dinner

St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 30 Church St. (Route 85) in Hebron, will hold its next monthly community dinner on Saturday, Sept. 17,from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. or until sold out. If both parking lots are filled and the food is ready, serving may start at 4 p.m.

The menu: Turkey breast, gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, green beans, dinner roll, and dessert. The cost is $15.

This is a take-out-only dinner with no pre-orders or reservations. Servers will come to your car, take your order, money, and dessert choice, and return to your car to place them in the back seat or trunk. You will not get out of your car.

As part of the St. Peter’s outreach programs, a portion of each meal sold will go to Protector of Animals in East Hampton.

Brass City Brew and 'Que

Brass City Brew and ’Que, one of Connecticut’s largest craft beer tasting festivals, will place on Saturday, Sept. 10, in downtown Waterbury starting at 1 p.m.

There will be more than 200 types of brews, that were produced locally, as well as internationally and in other parts of the country. There will also be spiked seltzer and vodka sodas segments.

The festival will also feature live music and food.

The Noah Webster Real Ale Harvest Fest will take place Saturday, Sept. 10, co-hosted by the Noah Webster House and West Hartford Historical Society and Harvest Wine and Spirits.

More than 20 brewers will create unique casks of real ale good for this one day only, with one stipulation: their brew must include an ingredient from Noah Webster’s 18th-century garden or pantry, such as currants, honey, hyssop, and nutmeg.
